What is Holistic Counselling?
The philosophy of Holistic Counselling emphasizes balance in all areas of your life, including mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual. Holistic practitioners believe that the whole person is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health. The purpose is to actualize the real self by empowering individuals to be true to the authentic self.
Holistic Therapy uses a Transformation model and is based on the belief that unconditional love and support is the most powerful healer and a person is ultimately responsible for his or her own health and well-being; all people have innate healing powers. In Holistic Therapy the patient is seen as a person and unhealthiness is defined by lack of vital energy flowing through the cells, body and mind. This can be changed using experiential, nonverbal and/or an energy approach where energy is used to empower people.
"Holistic Psychology exists to help human beings experience and enjoy the extraordinary qualities of their soul, heart, body and mind so they feel whole, sane and worthy." Dr. Doris Jeanette
